Workshops

Workshops

Besides the summerschools, also other scientific as wells as soft skill workshops will be organised by the IRTG. While specific scientific courses are mandatory, additional scientific courses are optional. All doctoral researchers of the IRTG have also the opportunitiy to participate in workshops organised by the Graduate Center-Plus (GC-Plus) of the University Duisburg-Essen. The GC-Plus is a university-wide interdisciplinary graduate school, which is open for young academics of all research directions and career stages from later Master’s students up to post-doc researchers. It is part of the Research Academy Ruhr (RAR), the cross‑university platform of Ruhr University Bochum, TU Dortmund, and UDE for promoting early career researchers in the University Alliance Ruhr.

All doctoral researchers have free access to the program of RAR which, besides pooling local qualification programs of the three UA Ruhr universities, offers advice on career paths and options for researchers, exchange with experts from science and industry, support for international activities through strong networks, easier access to research-related training offers on faculty and department level and the intensive development of research-related networks within UA Ruhr and beyond. This complementary measure allows a customised interdisciplinary education and an adaptation of knowledge to the requirements of the specific research topic. Doctoral researchers of external CRC partners are also able to participate in courses offered by GC‑Plus and RAR, but may also chose courses offered by their local postgraduate programs.

Workshops organised by the IRTG for all doctoral researches, the WGS workshops were also open for the IRTG.
