Research approaches
RESIST mainly addresses three stressors and their effects on various organism groups and ecosystem functions using experiments (ExStream, AquaFlow) and field studies, focusing on two selected catchments. We expect differential degradation and recovery trajectories, a hypothesis that was supported for various ecosystem components during phase I of RESIST.
Experiments and field studies provide knowledge rules for developing statistical and mechanistic models. Those results in addtion to external information, provides the basis to elaborate the overall synthesis of RESIST and to test the Asymmetric Response Concept (ARC; see Vos et al. 2023).
